To Yuu

Dear Yuu,

I miss you, Yuu. Remember when we just sit under the starfruit tree? That was long ago, but I still remember it. We climbed that one tree, filled out rattan basket. We didn’t bother to get a knife to cut the sides. We used our teeth instead. I’ve seen starfruits here, at Buds grocery store. None of them are as good as the ones from our tree. The ones here looked sad, too sad for me to eat them.

Don’t let me start on talking about mangoes. I will, but not in this letter. I can only maintain readable handwriting for not more than 2 pages. Do you still get up in the morning without alarm clock? It’s convenient that sun rises and sets at roughly the same time there, all year. Not here. Here is.. It ‘s changing all the time. Not to mention about the hassle of adjusting the time around the house because of the time change twice a year. Duh.

Yuu, do you still fast every Monday and Friday? I don’t do that anymore. I need to come up with a fasting idea that will work here. You probably will read this letter in the middle of fasting month. Tell me in your letter if you also fast for one month like our neighbours.

How’s the traffic nowadays? The last time we talk in January, you said a trip to the office has gotten longer. An extra 20 minutes, I think? In that case maybe now you got up before sunrise and need an alarm clock after all. Ha. No traffic jam here. A perfect place for me to learn to drive. I know, but you know my opinion on driving. Public transport is the the one I’m familiar with. Sometimes I miss living in a city with proper public transport. But I think I will miss the yard I have here. I have big yard here, Yuu. Remember my grandparents mango garden? My yard is more than 10 times bigger than that. Oh, mangoes.. I miss Gadung mangoes.

I wish you can send mangoes here..

Write back soon, Yuu!
